During the last years the HSN developed two standard data outputs: one for the civil certificates (birth, marriage and death) and one for the population register (including personal cards). In this contribution I will give an outline of the principles and practice of data formats used by the HSN. Especially attention will be given to the handling of data output of dynamic data and of data including more then one generation.
